AUP's Infrastructure Plan
I've been the driver of my siblings since this week and this is what I've noticed in AUP, Adventist University of the Philippines, eversince. I have seen this even before and I just want to rant it out. Here it goes.
I. The Road System
AUP has a very nice environment but you wouldn't notice it with all the bumps and defects on the road. Build the worst road networks that make reaching point A to point B take twice the time. Potholes are never a problem. When building new roads, never include canals or ditches in the plan (they just cost extra money) so that when it rains, the water is all over and the road will deteriorate in less than three years. If they do manage to include a ditch in the plan, it's going to be 4 feet deep with no gutter. If your car falls, you're on your own. Lights just add to the bill, besides, everybody has nightvision here. It's just too much work, wiring, posts, bulbs, etc. In the process, the plans are submitted to a civil engineer but are disregarded afterwards.
II. The AUP Driver
Most drivers in AUP wouldn't care if they're obstructing the road or anything. Majority of those drivers drive a van and they still don't notice that they're a 15 feet road block. When you see your friend coming from the opposite direction, stop and have a chat in the middle of the road. If someone blows his horn, start moving but get pissed off. If you see your friend just walking on the other side of the road you're on, go to the opposing lane and stop and talk form minutes. Act like you don't notice the drivers passing you are not pissed off. Every driver is a suspect of bringing out students that reside in the campus so expect the guards to be really really dumb and very very rude.
III. Minimum Driving Requirements
Everyday, I see kids as young as 10 going to school on bikes/scooters and most of the time with a friend on the back. Almost all of them drives head on to you then just go back to their lane when you're about 5 to 10 meters away. You can drive around campus as long as you can reach the steering wheel and gas pedal. If it is a motorized bike or scooter, you must be able to balance it. Age doesn't matter. Road rules aren't important, just don't hit the other cars.
IV. The Pedestrians and Road Rights
Every driver is also a pedestrian that's why there is respect to every person walking on the road. Same goes the other way around although the statement may not always be satisfied. In AUP, the only place with a pedestrian walkway is the road after the gate then going to Finster chapel and to the men's dormitory. They never plan on building walkways anymore since very few actually use it. The road to the men's dormitory has a nice walkway with a couple of these weird trees with it and it's a couple of meters away from the road. 1 out of 3 people that walk using that route will walk on the road or beside it. It's just not one person. It's a group of 3 or more and they will walk in flanks and won't mind getting ran over. One more thing, the stray dogs own the road. It is their property and they aren't allowed to be kept in the house or to be tied. Since they, the dogs, own the road, they can cross anytime they want.
So that's pretty much it. I really hate how AUP plans thing. Actually, I feel happy for my bitchy sister for having the privilege to not study there and I feel sorry for my younger sister that she has to suffer probably more than four years by going there for college. Anyway, if I didn't study there, I wouldn't have met the good people[, bitches and assholes] that I know now. This should serve as a guide to visitors.
I edited a couple of stuff. I forgot to fix the grammar when I replaced nice words from offensive ones.
